TTT: Books with under 2000 Ratings

It is that time of the week for another Top Ten Tuesday. This weeks topic is books you’ve enjoyed that have under 2000 ratings on Goodreads. I think this is such a great topic as it combines my love of Goodreads and my love of promoting books I adore. So these are all books that I love and I definitely think they deserve more ratings on Goodreads. Let’s get started.
  • Age of Myth by Michael J. Sullivan – 395 ratings + 161 reviews – the first book in a new series, this was one of my most anticipated books for this year. I loved it. I find Sullivan’s books so easy to read and they are just really enjoyable/entertaining.
  • Fudoki by Kij Johnson – 718 ratings + 90 reviews – this will come as no surprise to anyone following my blog. I have mentioned my love for this book quite a few times, so I am sorry if that is getting annoying :). I have a full review which you can check out here. Suffice to say I adore this book.
  •  The Bone Queen by Alison Croggon – 139 ratings + 14 reviews – this is the prequel to the Pellinor series. It was so amazing to be back in this world. This is one of my all time favourite series – I love it so much I created a tag all about it – Pellinor Book Tag (Original). If you are looking for a new fantasy series, please check out this series.
  • The Waking Fire by Anthony Ryan – 58 ratings + 30 reviews – probably because it hasn’t been released yet (July 7th) but I wanted to include this anyway. I thought this was a solid introduction to this new series. I really enjoyed the plot, the characters and the magic system. I definitely recommend checking this out.
  • Beyond the Pale by Emily Urquhart – 127 ratings + 26 reviews – I was lucky enough to win this book in a giveaway. It is a non fiction book about albinism, which is a rare genetic condition where pigment fails to form in the skin, eyes and hair. This was a very interesting book about a topic I knew very little about – you don’t need to have prior knowledge to read this though.
  • Twelve Kings by Bradley Beaulieu – 1,096 ratings + 215 reviews – this is the first book in quite a slow burning epic fantasy series. It definitely has a slower pacing and it does drag at times, but this was a solid first book in a very character driven book. I am interested to continue with this series to see how it progresses.
  • Nevernight by Jay Kristoff – 200 ratings + 141 reviews – again I am kind of cheating with this one since it hasn’t been released yet (August 11th), but I wanted to include it anyway. Although it took me a little while to get into this book, I ended up really enjoying it.
  • The Penguin Book of Classical Myths by Jennifer R. March – 245 ratings + 31 reviews – this is a very interesting book all about Greek and Roman mythology. I am fascinated by myths so this was a great book to me. It is written in a very accessible way so I don’t think you need prior knowledge to read this book. If you are interested in mythology, definitely check this book out.
  •  Angel of Storms by Trudi Canavan – 1,311 ratings + 101 reviews – it is the sequel to Thief’s Magic and is the second book in the Millennium’s Rule trilogy. I have been reading Canavan’s books for years now so I find her writing so easy to engage with and I just really enjoy her stories. This was a great continuation of the series and I am so excited for the final book in the trilogy, which is hopefully coming out sometime this year.
  • To Hold the Bridge by Garth Nix – 943 ratings + 190 reviews –  this is a short story collection, including an Old Kingdom novella. Again I have been reading stuff by this author for years now and I have enjoyed everything I have read by him. I am not a big short story reader, but I did very much enjoy this collection.

There you have it – some of my favourite books with under 2000 ratings. I had to make my way through all the books on Goodreads to find these books 🙂 but it is always good to promote books you love that maybe don’t get alot of attention. Let me know in the comments what is one book you’ve read with under 200o ratings and your favourite under-hyped book – although what is considered under-hyped can be very subjective. Anyway I hope you are all having a great day and I will see you next time.

  1. I loved, LOVED, loved the Pellinor series (I think I made everyone of my friends in high school read that series. I ended up ordering them from Australia because they weren’t released in the US fast enough, wow good times), and never knew there was a prequel novel…until now. To Amazon I go. Thank you so much 🙂
