Top 5 Wednesday was originally created and run by Lainey aka gingerreadslainey (Youtube channel) but it is now being run by Sam aka Thoughts on tomes (Youtube channel). Each week there is a different topic. You can check out the groups Goodreads page here for any more information and the future topics. Before I get started with my list, I just wanted to say that these are in no particular order because I’m rubbish at choosing favourites or in this case least favourites. This week the topic is books you want to see as TV shows. I have so many possible answers so there will probably be some honourable mentions. I have also already done a post about my Top 5 Book to Movie Wishlist, so in a bid not to repeat myself I will be choosing five other books to share with you today. Onto the books.
-
The Old Kingdoms trilogy by Garth Nix – it should be clear by now my love for this series. I think it would make an amazing TV show, whereas a film would probably have to cut a load of stuff out.
-
Machinations series by Hayley Stone – I pick this series up on a bit of a whim and I am really glad I did. It is a very enjoyable YA series. I think this would make a really great, action packed TV show and I think it needs to happen :).
-
Bartimaeus series by Jonathan Stroud – this is one of my favourite series from when I was a teenager and I would love to see these characters come to life.
-
The Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon – I just love this series so much, so of course I would love to see a TV adaptation. It is currently one of my favourite series.
-
The Hunted Assassin by Paul B. Kohler – this a mixture of the science fiction genre and the thriller genre and I think it would make a great TV show. I would definitely watch it :).
Honourable mentions: Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, the Study series by Maria V. Snyder, the Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte.
I would be so happy to see these books as TV shows. I think TV shows can work better than films as they have the time for more development, especially in terms of characters and relationships. Let me know what book you want to see as a TV show in the comments. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

The Old Kingdom trilogy is on my TV-wishlist too! It’s such a rich world with a lot of history that it would be great for TV 🙂

The Old Kingdom series as a TV show would be so amazing in the right hands – it could turn out to be a really epic multi-series show. 🙂
The Bone Season is firmly on my list too – I so desperately want to see Samantha Shannon’s world come to life on screen.

Yes they would both make amazing TV shows!! Great list – I totally agree about the Raven Cycle although I’ve only read the first two books! 🙂

The Old Kingdom is on my list as well! The only others I’ve read on your list is the Bartimaeus series, which really would be cool. I’ll have to check out the others you mentioned!
Some of mine were the Samaria books by Sharon Shinn, and Tamora Pierce’s Beka Cooper series.

Ah I’ve not read any Tamora Pierce but I’ve heard so many good things! I’ll have to check out both of those!
