Hi guys, I hope you are all well. Today I thought I would share some key words that will immediately make me interested in a book. We all have certain things that make us what to read books and I have quite a few things that attract me towards books. Sorry for the long title but I couldn’t figure out a way of shortening it :). Now these don’t necessarily mean I will definitely pick up the book but these words will make me intrigued to check it out. Let’s get started.
General:
-
Hidden identities
-
Mythology
-
Strong group of friends
-
The author
Fantasy:
-
East Asia inspired
-
Animal companion
-
Strong female lead (especially if she’s good with a bow)
-
Great world building
-
Assassins
Historical fiction:
-
WW1 and WW2
-
Ancient China
Other things that may sway me to pick up a book include beautiful covers and/or a recommendation from someone I trust. I’m sure there are more but I can’t think of them right now :). What words or phrases make you want to pick up a book? I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

Great post. It made me laugh when you mentioned WWI or WWII as settings, as those are 2 settings that I just can’t stand reading about, even in fiction.

I hear you…. being German, I think I’ve dealt enough with all of it. History lessons at school are mostly about WWII. It’s important to know your country’s history but sometimes it felt like it was only there to make us kids feel bad & responsible. There’s a point where it all is too much.
You still have to be very careful about what you say.. mention that you are proud of your country or have a flag on your property and some people will surely call you Nazis.

Really? That’s interesting. I agree with you – it is important to know but I also think that if you need to teach it in the right way.

Do you read any non-fiction in that time period, or just fiction?

I am interested as well, when animal companions are mentioned! Also, dragons π
I don’t come across East-Asia inspired settings a lot but would definitely like it as well!

If there is an animal or dragon involved, I am immediately interested :). Yeah I haven’t either but I really enjoy them when I do.

Mine would be: dragons, Japan and Japanese novels, books/bookstores, airplanes, female MC, Asian settings.
I’m with the others, I’m not interested in the WWs but we all have our interests! π
