T5W: Independent Ladies

Top 5 Wednesday was originally created and run by Lainey aka gingerreadslainey (Youtube channel) but it is now being run by Sam aka Thoughts on tomes (Youtube channel). Each week there is a different topic. You can check out the groups Goodreads page here for any more information and the future topics. This week’s topic is independent ladies. These are the female protagonists that get stuff done without getting distracted by romance. Or there is no to little romance in the book. In no particular order, let’s get started.

  • Elin from The Beast Player / Nahoko Uehashi
  • Daleina from the Queens of Renthia trilogy / Sarah Beth Durst
  • Ceda from the Songs of the Shattered Sand series / Bradley Beaulieu
  • Maniye from the Echoes of the Fall trilogy / Adrian Tchaikovsky
  • Vlora from the Gods of Blood and Powder trilogy / Brian McClellan

That’s it for today. I really liked this week’s topic and I’m interested to see everyone’s picks. I think I’ll be adding quite a few books to my TBR :). Have you read any of these books? I’d love to know what you guys thought. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

  1. Songs of the Shattered Sands is such an underapprichiated series, Çeda makes for a wonderful protagonist (and independent lady)😊

And I really can’t wait to read ‘Beast Player’, saw the series as a kid and loved it😍

    1. Yes it’s so good. I can’t wait for the next book to be released! The Beast Player is fantastic – I hope you enjoy it. I didn’t realise it was a series…

    1. Well I don’t want to spoil anything… but she never lets romance get in the way of what she wants to do or has to do, if that makes sense. I hope you enjoy it when you read it :).
