It is a reboot of H. Beam Piper’s 1962 book Little Fuzzy. I have not read the original but I loved this reboot. Let’s get started.
Title / Fuzzy Nation
Author / John Scalzi
Publication Date / 2011
Genre / Science fiction
Page no. / 368
Rating / ★★★★
This book is so enjoyable and it became one of my favourite sci-fi books. It was quite a quick read for me because once I started reading I didn’t want to put the book down.
The world is fantastic. I don’t want to say too much about it because of spoilers but it is so well written and I love the fuzzies.
The characters are well written and there is some great dialogue in this book. The protagonist, Jack, is morally ambiguous and so you spend some of the book trying to figure out what he’s up to.
There’s an awesome dog companion, which is always a plus when reading a book. 🙂
It’s a great place to start if you want to try out some science fiction and/or are new to John Scalzi as an author. This was actually one of the first sci-fi books I read and it definitely made me want to read more. Fuzzy Nation can be enjoyed by a variety of readers and ages.
There you have it – 5 reasons to check out Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi. I’ve reread a couple of times since first reading it and I’ve enjoyed it every time. Have you read this book? I’d love to know what you thought. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
