Hi guys, I hope you are all well. It’s the end of another month, which means it’s time to talk about all the books I’ve been reading. In October I read 4 books, 3 of which were 4 star reads for me. Let’s get started with the mini reviews.

Blade’s Edge / Virginia McClain / ★★★
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: Artemis Dingo Productions
Series: Chronicles of Gensokai book 1
Length: 314 pages
Blade’s Edge follows two young women in a world inspired by Japanese culture. While I enjoyed this book overall, it dragged at times and the world building was quite lacking. The characters were quite well written, but the villains were pretty generic. Overall I enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it as much as I hoped I would.

The Missing of Clairdelune / Christelle Dabos / ★★★★
Publisher: Europa Editions
Translator: Hildegarde Serle
Genre: Fantasy
Series: Book 2 of the Mirror Visitor series
Length: 540
Having enjoyed the first book, I’m happy to say that I enjoyed this instalment to. I’m planning to write up a full review of this one, so I’m going to keep this short. I enjoyed finding out more about this world as I love the setting of this series. I liked the character development and enjoyed the progression of the plot. I can’t wait to get to the third book.

Theonite: Orbit / M. L. Wang
Publisher: Self published
Genre: Fantasy
Series: Book 2 of the Theonite series
Length: 555
I’ve really enjoyed the first book of this series and I’m happy to say that this instalment is just as good as the first. It is quite slow at times, as the focus is on world building and character development over non stop action, but it keeps you engaged throughout. I will have a full review of this up soon, so keep an eye out for that.

The Secret Commonwealth / Philip Pullman /★★★★
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: Penguin and David Fickling Books
Series: Book of Dust book 2
Length: 687 pages
I have a full review of this one so I will keep this short. It was so good to be back in this world and with this characters. I cannot wait for the next book in the trilogy
That’s it for today. I had an alright reading month, although I didn’t read as much as I wanted. I haven’t been in a huge reading mood for the last couple of months but I’m glad I still managed to read 4 books. What have you guys been reading recently? I’d also love to know if you’ve read any of the books I mentioned and your thoughts on them. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
