10 Ongoing Series I Love

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. There are so many series out there, so today I’m sharing 10 that I love and want to recommend to you guys. They are all currently ongoing, which basically means none of these series are completed as of posting this. A few of them will be completed by the end of the year, but most won’t be completed for another year or two. Let’s get started.

Gods of Blood and Powder trilogy

Author: Brian Mclellan

Books: Sins of Empire, Wrath of Empire and Blood of Empire (out Dec. 19)

Genre: Fantasy

This is the sequel trilogy to the Powder Mage trilogy. We get to see familiar faces as well as being introduced to new characters. This is one of my all time favourite trilogies and I cannot wait for the third book.

Of Blood and Bone trilogy

Author: John Gwynne

Books: A Time of Dread, A Time of Blood and A Time of Courage (out Apr. 20)

Genre: Fantasy

This is the sequel trilogy to the Faithful and the Fallen series. Again, this is one of my favourites trilogies and I cannot wait for the concluding chapter.

The Song of the Shattered Sands series

Author: Bradley Beaulieu

Books: Twelve Kings, With Blood Upon Sand, A Veil of Spears, Beneath the Twisted Tree, When Jackal Storms the Wall (out July. 20)and A Desert Torn Asunder (out 2021)

Genre: Fantasy

This is a six book fantasy series set in a fantastically vivid desert setting. While it did take me a little while to get into the first book, overall this series has been fantastic. I still need to read the fourth book, which came out earlier this year.

Dandelion Dynasty trilogy

Author: Ken Liu

Books: The Grace of Kings, The Wall of Storms and The Veiled Throne (out. 2020)

Genre: Fantasy

This is a epic fantasy trilogy that takes inspiration from Ancient China. While quite dense at times, the intrigue and sweeping battles/military tactics are so well done. I think I’ll have to reread the first two books before the release of the third book.

The Mirror Visitor series

Author: Christelle Dabos

Translator: Hildegarde Serle

Books: A Winter’s Promise, The Missing of Clairdelune, The Memory of Babel (out May. 20) and Untitled (out 2021)

Genre: Fantasy

This is a four book fantasy series that was originally written in French. First off, I love the covers of these books, and secondly the first two books were so enjoyable to read. I love the setting of this series. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.

The Legends of the First Empire series

Author: Michael J. Sullivan

Books: Age of Myth, Age of Sword, Age of War, Age of Legend, Age of Death (out Feb. 20) and Age of Empyre (out 2021)

Genre: Fantasy

This is a six book fantasy series, set in the same world as the author’s other series, the Riyria Revelations. I find these books so easy and enjoyable to read. I can’t wait to see what happens in the last two books.

The Coraidic Saga

Author: Alicia Wanstall-Burke

Books: Blood of Heirs, Legacy of Ghosts (out Nov. 19) and Untitled

Genre: Fantasy

This is a self published fantasy trilogy that follows two main perspectives, Lidan and Ranoth. The first book was the author’s debut work. I cannot wait to see what happens in book 2.

The Ascension Cycle

Author: David Mealing

Books: Soul of the World, Blood of the Gods and Untitled (no release date)

Genre: Fantasy

The first two books were enjoyable reads and I would definitely recommend checking them out. I don’t know whether this is a trilogy or a longer series but I’m excited to see what’s in store for the characters.

Theonite series

Author: M. L. Wang

Books: Theonite: Planet Adyn, Theonite: Orbit and Theonite: City of Ghosts (out 2020)

Genre: YA fantasy

The Theonite world is an amazing one and I love the magic system. The first two books were super enjoyable to read and I cannot wait for the release of the third book next year.

The Cromwell trilogy

Author: Hilary Mantel

Books: Wolf Hall, Bring up the Bodies and The Mirror and the Light (out Mar. 20)

Genre: Historical fiction

This is a fictionalised account of the life of the historical figure, Thomas Cromwell, who served as a principal adviser to Henry VIII. The writing of this trilogy can take a little getting used to but it is still well worth a read. The third and final book comes out next year.

That’s it for today. All of these series are fantastic and I would highly recommend checking them out, if you haven’t started them already. There are other series I’m in the middle of but these are my favourites at the moment. What series are you currently reading? Leave them in the comments. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

      1. Oh, I binged that last year! Good fun, although I think the series got weaker as it went on. The narrator does a great job though.

As for my recs, I love Fever by Karen Marie Moning (stick to the first five books though!) and Kate Daniels! And I’ve heard excellent things about October Daye. OH, and Hidden Legacy was also addictive for me this year, though it’s a bit more romance-heavy than, say, Kate Daniels, I think.
