Hi guys, I hope you are all well. I know I’ve been posting a lot of round up posts recently, but it’s a good way to talk about the past reading year and share some of my favourites with you guys, so I hope you don’t mind. Today I’m sharing books I read this year that I think are underrated. These are books that I really enjoyed but I haven’t seen many people talk about and don’t have many ratings on Goodreads. Let’s get started.

The Sword of Kaigen / M. L. Wang / ★★★★★
Only 474 ratings on Goodreads
Genre: Fantasy
Length: 649
Starting with my favourite book of the year. I have seen this around the bookish community but it still has under 500 ratings on Goodreads and I will take every opportunity to recommend this book. Full review

Blood of Heirs / Alicia Wanstall-Burke / ★★★★
Only 75 ratings on Goodreads
Genre: Fantasy
Length: 335 pages
Self published debut fantasy book that follows two character perspectives. It is a fantastic introduction to this series. Full review

Theonite: Planet Adyn / M. L. Wang / ★★★★
Only 200 ratings on Goodreads
Genre: YA fantasy
Length: 298 pages
A self published YA fantasy book with fantastic characters and amazing world building. The second book in the series is just as good as the first, if not better. Full review

The Crystal Ribbon / Celeste Lim / ★★★★
Only 266 ratings on Goodreads
Genre: Historical fantasy
Length: 352 pages
A wonderful story centred around a young girl called Li Jing, set in a medieval China. Full review

The Black Hawks / David Wragg /★★★★
Only 163 ratings on Goodreads
Genre: Fantasy
Length: 429 pages
This is the first book in the Articles of Faith series. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to any fantasy reader. Full review

The Spider / Leo Carew / ★★★★
Only 179 ratings on Goodreads
Genre: Fantasy
Length: 544 pages
This is the fantastic second book in the Under the Northern Sky series. I’m looking forward to seeing how it concludes in the next book. Full review

Waste Tide / Chen Qiufan / ★★★★
Only 589 ratings on Goodreads
Genre: Science Fiction
Length: 352 pages
Originally written in Chinese, this edition is translated by Ken Liu. This is a fantastic environmental sci fi book and I would highly recommend checking it out.
That’s it for today. All of these books are fantastic and I highly recommend checking them out, if you haven’t already. Have you guys read any of these books? I’d love to know what you thought. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
Pippa
