This is the third and final book in the Gods of Blood and Powder trilogy. It picks up soon after the events of the second book, Wrath of Empire. Like the previous books in this trilogy, this concluding instalment is a multiple perspective story. To avoid spoilers, I will not be going into any details about the plot. This is one of my most anticipated book releases of this year.
Blood of Empire is a fantastic concluding instalment to this trilogy. I’ve loved the previous two books so I had high hopes for this one and it did not disappoint. I will admit that it is not perfect but I just love this world and characters so much I can overlook its flaws.
Firstly, I love the characters in this trilogy and it was great to be back with them. While all the characters are well written, Ka-Poel remains a favourite of mine. I did feel that some of the characters were a little underutilized but I still enjoyed every second of reading this book. The plot is compelling throughout, although the ending is perhaps a little rushed. Many plot threads are neatly tied up, maybe a bit too neatly but it didn’t affect my reading enjoyment.
Overall I loved this concluding instalment to this fantastic trilogy. If you haven’t checked out these books yet, I highly recommend you do. You should definitely read the Powder Mage trilogy first though, as it will give you more background when you pick this trilogy up. Have you read this book yet? I’d love to know what you thought. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
