Bookish Adaptation Wish-list

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. Today I’m going to be sharing the books that I want to be adapted to a film or TV show. There are a lot of potentially amazing bookish adaptations that I could talk about, but today I’ve narrowed it down to five to share with you guys. Let’s get started.

Spellslinger series / Sebastien de Castell

Series Rating: ★★★★

Form: Animated TV show

This is a six book fantasy series that follows a young man called Kellen and a squirrel rat called Reichis. I think this would make an incredible animated TV series. I think an animated show would really allow for some great visuals within the series, especially with the magic system. The story and characters are so suited for an entertaining TV show.

Faithful and the Fallen series / John Gwynne

Series Rating: ★★★★★

Form: TV show

This is a four book fantasy series that follows mulitple character perspective. It’s one of my all time favourite series and I think it would make an amazing epic fantasy TV show. I think a TV show would allow more of this world and characters to be explored, instead of being adapted into films.

Shardlake series / C. J. Sansom

Series Rating: ★★★★

Form: TV show

This is a seven book historical fiction series set during the reign of Henry VIII. I think this would make a great crime/mystery TV show. I love a good murder mystery TV show and think this would be a perfect fit.

Old Man’s War / John Scalzi

Rating: ★★★★

Form: Action/Sci-fi Film

This is the first book in the Old Man’s War series by John Scalzi. I think this would make a great sci-fi/action film. I love a good sci-fi film and I think this has a lot of potential as a bookish adaptation.

Riyria Revelations series / Michael J. Sullivan

Series Rating:

Form: TV show

This a six book (or 3 volume) fantasy series that follows the mercenary, Hadrian, and the assassin, Royce. I would love to see the relationship between these two brought to life in the form of a TV show.

That’s it for today. I would love to see any of these books adapted into a film or TV show. What books do you want adapted? Let’s chat in the comments. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

  1. I find it quite hard to imagine my favourites being adapted! Like, I don’t think I’d be able to handle Realm of the Elderlings… I think there’s a lot of it that wouldn’t translate well to the screen. I feel like the Fever series and Kate Daniels would be super fun to see though!

    1. Yeah the Realm of the Elderings would be really tricky to adapt – there is just so much depth to it and, as you say, some of it wouldn’t translate well to the screen. I’ve not read either of them – I’ll have to check them out.
