Ten things to do while in lockdown

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. It’s a pretty scary and uncertain time right now, so I wanted to share some ways to occupy your time and hopefully take your mind off Covid-19 for a little while. Daily reminder to wash your hands regularly and limit your contact with other people. 


  1. Reading – Since this is a book blog, let’s start with the obvious one. This can be the time you make a dent in your large TBR pile or maybe finally read a book you’ve been meaning to read.
  2. Video games – I’m currently debating whether or not to get the new Animal Crossing game. I wasn’t going to get it but I’ve seen it a lot on social media and it looks pretty fun… Whether on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or PC, there are plenty of video games to check out. 
  3. Bullet journal – maybe you’ve been meaning to start a bullet journal but haven’t had the time… you could start a bullet journal to organize your life or you could journal about your favourite things, books, films, art etc.
  4. Films/TV – there are so many films and TV programmes out there, maybe there is one you’ve been meaning to watch for a while now. Studio Ghibli films recently got put onto Netflix, so I’d highly recommend checking them out. 
  5. Video calls – these are a great way to stay in contact with your loved ones while also getting to see their facing. 
  6. Jigsaw puzzles – now I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of jigsaw puzzles, because I don’t think I’m very good at them, but they are a great way to past the time and get away from a screen for a while.
  7. Listen to podcasts and/or music – listen to your favourite podcast/music or try to find some new stuff to listen to.
  8. Cooking/baking – now this one may be a little tricky depending on the state of your local shops, but if you can then maybe try some new recipes or bake something you’ve never baked before.
  9. Go for a walk – obviously while maintaining social distancing. I think most people are still allowed outside for a walk, but double check in your area. If you can, go out for a nice walk to get some fresh air. 
  10. Learn a new language – or dedicate your time to a language you’ve already started learning. 

 

Other ideas: clean/organize your home, knit or crochet, try out some yoga videos, get out your colouring book, if isolated with other people play a board game, write a poem or short story or spend some time with your pets.
