Ancillary Justice is the first book in the Imperial Radch trilogy. It follows Breq on a quest for vengeance. Breq was once Justice of Toren, a colossal starship and could occupy mulitple bodies at once. Now she is trapped in a fragile human body, as she tries to seek revenge.
  • First of all, I love the concept of this book. The idea of an AI becoming trapped in a human body is really interesting and I really enjoyed the progression of the plot.
  • It was a little confusing to follow at times, though. This is definitely not a quick read – you need to be paying close attention to everything. The plot is complex so don’t go in expecting a quick read.
  • The characters are all well written and I thought the relationship between Breq and Seivarden was an interesting one. Breq was a great protagonist, although I do feel like it’s a little tricky for readers to become emotionally invested in her.
  • Leckie has obviously spent a lot of time creating this world to make it so complex. There is so much to this world and we get to learn about some of its history, as well as the different races and cultures.
  • Overall I thought this was a great start to this trilogy, although it was a little confusing to follow at times. I am planning to check out the second book – I’m interested to see where Leckie will take it next and to see more of the world.

That’s it for today. Have you guys read this book? I’d love to know what you thought, so let’s chat in the comments. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
