The Mask Falling is the fourth instalment in the Bone season series (7 books total) and picks up shortly after the events of the third book, The Song Rising. It continues to follow the perspective of Paige Mahoney, a young dreamwalker who is now taking refuge in a safe house in the Scion Citadel of Paris after escaping captivity at the end of the third book.

As a Bone Season Advocate, I am very lucky to receive a physical arc from the publisher, Bloomsbury. Thank you to Bloomsbury for sending me a copy.

This fourth instalment takes the series to a whole new level. I have loved every book in this series so far and this one is no exception. From the very first pages, I was immersed once again in this world and it was so good to be back with these characters. It has been quite a while since I last read the third book and for some series I can start to lose interest when there is a bit of a breaking between instalment, but that is definitely not the case for this series. Shannon continues to take this series to new, unexpected places and I loved the direction of the plot in this instalment. It is compelling throughout and there are twists and turns to keep you reading until the end.

The character development in this instalment was so well done. Paige is such an interesting character and Shannon does a great job at continuing to develop her in this instalment. We see a completely different side to her this time and it was so interesting to see. There are so many fantastic characters in this series and it was great to see new sides of them in this book. The world building continues to be so well done and I loved that Paris was the main hub of the plot in this sequel. I don’t want to say too much in this review since this is the fourth book in a series and I don’t want to spoil anything, so just know this is a fantastic instalment and I highly recommend checking this series out.

Have you guys started this series? I would love to know what you guys think of it. Let’s chat in the comments. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
