It’s Monday… What are you reading?

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. It’s the beginning of another week and I thought I’d update you on what I’ve been reading lately. So far this month I’ve read three books and enjoyed all of them. You guys should know the drill with these posts by now; I’m just going to be talking about the books I’m reading right now and possibly the books I will pick up next.

Right now I’m reading two books. The first is Blood of the Gods by David Mealing, which is the second book in the Ascension Cycle. I loved book 1 (Soul of the World) so I have high hopes for this sequel. As I’m writing this I’m a couple a hundred pages in and loving it. It’s roughly 730 pages long so I still have a way to go but I anticipate loving it when I’m finished. The second book is The White Mirror by Elsa Hart, which is the Li Du series. This is a crime/mystery historical fiction series set in 18th century China. I really enjoyed the first book (Jade Dragon Mountain) so I’m sure I’ll like this sequel. I’ve only just started it though so I can’t really comment yet.
Clearly I’m in a second book in a series mood right now :). I also love the covers of both these books. In terms of what I may read next, I have quite a few options. I’ve been meaning to read Circe by Madeleine Miller ever since it was released but haven’t gotten around to it. The other two books high up on my TBR pile are Lamentation by C. J. Sansom, which is the sixth book in the Shardlake series, and Valour by John Gwynne, which is the second book in the Faithful and the Fallen series. As always though I may get distracted by other books :).

That’s it for today. Hopefully I’ll finish off a couple more books before the end of the month. What are you guys currently reading? I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

We’re roughly halfway through July now so I thought I’d update you guys on what I’m reading right now. So far I’ve managed to read 4 books which I’m pretty happy with. I’ve actually just started reading two books. Firstly I started The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel, which is the first book in six book series Earth’s Children. Unless I’m mistaken, this is a historical fiction series set in a prehistoric Europe. I’m not very far in so I can’t comment on it yet but obviously I’ll have a mini review for you guys in my wrap at the end of the month. The second book I’m reading is The Hyena and the Hawk by Adrian Tchaikovsky, which is the third and final book in the Echoes of the Fall trilogy. I am so excited to see how this concludes. I’ve loved the first two books so I have high hopes for this book.
Before I finish this post, I thought I’d share some books on my TBR for the rest of the month. These include The Birdcage Walk by Helen Dunmore, City of Lies by Sam Hawke, Legend by David Gemmell, Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie, Circe by Madeleine Miller and Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce. Obviously I won’t get to all of these but I’m hoping to read at least a few of them.

That’s it for today. Obviously I’ll let you know what I think of each book in my wrap up at the end of the month. What are you currently reading? I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

It’s Monday… What are you reading?

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. Today I’m going to talk about the books I am currently reading and maybe some I want to pick up next. We’re roughly half way through the month and I’ve managed to read 4 books already, one of which is a new favourite book. I’ve just started two books so I can’t really comment on them yet but I wanted to share it with you guys anyway.

So the two books I am reading are Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and Heartstone by C. J. Sansom, which is the fifth book in the Shardlake series. As I said I’ve only just started them so I haven’t read more then a hundred pages for either.
I’ve heard so many good things about Neil Gaiman so I thought it was about time I tried one of his books. I didn’t really know where to start with his works but this one sounded fun so I decided to try it out. This edition also has illustrations which is cool. Next up I’m continuing on with the Shardlake series. I think the last book in the series was my favourite so far so I’m excited to see what happens next. I fully expect to love this book as much as I’ve loved the first four books in the series. I’ve also discovered there is a new book coming out in this series sometime this year which is exciting. I hope to finish both of these books by the end of the month. Some other books I’d like to get to soon include Circe by Madeleine Miller and Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi.
That’s all I have for today’s post. Of course I’ll let you know my thoughts on all these books once I’ve read them. What are you guys currently reading? Have you read any of the books I mentioned? I’d love to know. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

It’s Monday… What are you reading?

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. As the title of the post suggests, I am going to be sharing what I am currently reading and mention some books I want to get to soon. I have to admit that I haven’t been in the best reading mood at the moment; basically I don’t have a lot of motivation to read but I’m hoping it will pass soon. Anyway let’s talk about some books.
I’ve just started Moonstone by Wilkie Collins and I am planning on starting Fool’s Quest by Robin Hobb. I really enjoyed The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins so I’m excited to read another of his books. Moonstone is known by many to be the first detective novel, which makes me even more excited to pick it up. As I said, I’ve only just started it so I’m not very far in and so I can’t comment on the book yet. I haven’t started Fool’s Quest yet but I plan to start it. Of course I fully expect to love it as it’s written by Robin Hobb. It is the second book in the Fitz and the Fool trilogy; I loved the first book so I’m looking forward to seeing how things progress in this sequel. I can only really read two books at a time so that’s all that I’m reading right now. Other books I’d quite like to get to soon include Jade City by Fonda Lee, Gather the Daughters by Jennie Melamed and Birdcage Walk by Helen Dunmore.

What are you guys currently reading? Have you read any of these books? There are also a few new releases (e.g. Circe by Madeleine Miller) I’m interested in so I might get distracted by them. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

So I am currently reading two books. The first book is Elysium Fire by Alastair Reynolds, which a sci-fi crime story. I got a digital copy from Netgalley. I didn’t realise when I requested it that it is actually the second book in the series, but so far I’m still enjoying it.  I have also just started Jade Dragon Mountain by Elsa Hart, which is a murder mystery set in China in the 1700’s. I’m only a couple of chapters in so far but I am hoping to love it. Once I’ve finished them, I am thinking of picking up The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin. It’s been sitting on my shelf for a while now and I think it’s about time I gave it a go. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it so I’m looking forward to seeing what I think of it.
What are you guys currently reading? Hopefully I can finish all of these books before the end of the month and then I can move onto the other books on my TBR. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

The first book that I am reading is The Makioka Sisters by Jun’ichirō Tanizaki. At the time of writing this I’m about 100 pages and so far I’m really enjoyed it. It’s over 500 pages long though, so I’ve still got a lot of it to read. The book follows the 4 sisters of a traditional Japanese family, whose fortune is declining. The second book that I’m reading is Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey, which is the first book in the Chronicles of Pern series. Again I’m about 100 pages into this one but it’s been quite a quick read so far so I think I’ll be finishing this one over the next couple of days. Once I finished Dragonflight, I’ll probably either pick up The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin or A Night Without Stars by Peter F. Hamilton.
That’s all I’m currently reading right now. I’ve read some great books so far this month so I’m looking forward to seeing what else this month of reading has in store for me. What are you currently reading? I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

So I’m currently reading two books, although I’ve only just started both of them. The first is The Reluctant Queen by Sarah Beth Durst, and the second is A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro. Both of which I am very excited to read. I also kind of want to get to The Power by Naomi Alderman by the end of the month but I haven’t started it yet.
Goodreads synopsis of A Pale View of Hills: In his highly acclaimed debut, A Pale View of Hills, Kazuo Ishiguro tells the story of Etsuko, a Japanese woman now living alone in England, dwelling on the recent suicide of her daughter. Retreating into the past, she finds herself reliving one particular hot summer in Nagasaki, when she and her friends struggled to rebuild their lives after the war. But then as she recalls her strange friendship with Sachiko – a wealthy woman reduced to vagrancy – the memories take on a disturbing cast.
I’m not going to give a synopsis of The Reluctant Queen as it is the second book in the Queens of Renthia trilogy and I don’t want to spoil it. I loved the first book in this fantasy series so I am very much looking forward to reading it’s sequel. I have a spoiler free review of The Queen of Blood (first book in the trilogy) which you can check out here.

There are so many books that I want to read but these are the two that I am currently reading. Hopefully I can read a few more books by the end of the month. Have you guys read either of these books? I’d love to hear your thoughts. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
