It’s Monday… What are you reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

So I am currently reading two books. The first book is Elysium Fire by Alastair Reynolds, which a sci-fi crime story. I got a digital copy from Netgalley. I didn’t realise when I requested it that it is actually the second book in the series, but so far I’m still enjoying it.  I have also just started Jade Dragon Mountain by Elsa Hart, which is a murder mystery set in China in the 1700’s. I’m only a couple of chapters in so far but I am hoping to love it. Once I’ve finished them, I am thinking of picking up The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin. It’s been sitting on my shelf for a while now and I think it’s about time I gave it a go. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it so I’m looking forward to seeing what I think of it.
What are you guys currently reading? Hopefully I can finish all of these books before the end of the month and then I can move onto the other books on my TBR. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

The first book that I am reading is The Makioka Sisters by Jun’ichirō Tanizaki. At the time of writing this I’m about 100 pages and so far I’m really enjoyed it. It’s over 500 pages long though, so I’ve still got a lot of it to read. The book follows the 4 sisters of a traditional Japanese family, whose fortune is declining. The second book that I’m reading is Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey, which is the first book in the Chronicles of Pern series. Again I’m about 100 pages into this one but it’s been quite a quick read so far so I think I’ll be finishing this one over the next couple of days. Once I finished Dragonflight, I’ll probably either pick up The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin or A Night Without Stars by Peter F. Hamilton.
That’s all I’m currently reading right now. I’ve read some great books so far this month so I’m looking forward to seeing what else this month of reading has in store for me. What are you currently reading? I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

So I’m currently reading two books, although I’ve only just started both of them. The first is The Reluctant Queen by Sarah Beth Durst, and the second is A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro. Both of which I am very excited to read. I also kind of want to get to The Power by Naomi Alderman by the end of the month but I haven’t started it yet.
Goodreads synopsis of A Pale View of Hills: In his highly acclaimed debut, A Pale View of Hills, Kazuo Ishiguro tells the story of Etsuko, a Japanese woman now living alone in England, dwelling on the recent suicide of her daughter. Retreating into the past, she finds herself reliving one particular hot summer in Nagasaki, when she and her friends struggled to rebuild their lives after the war. But then as she recalls her strange friendship with Sachiko – a wealthy woman reduced to vagrancy – the memories take on a disturbing cast.
I’m not going to give a synopsis of The Reluctant Queen as it is the second book in the Queens of Renthia trilogy and I don’t want to spoil it. I loved the first book in this fantasy series so I am very much looking forward to reading it’s sequel. I have a spoiler free review of The Queen of Blood (first book in the trilogy) which you can check out here.

There are so many books that I want to read but these are the two that I am currently reading. Hopefully I can read a few more books by the end of the month. Have you guys read either of these books? I’d love to hear your thoughts. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
