Tome Topple TBR

Hi guys, I’m back with an additional post today as I wanted to share my TBR for a certain readathon that starts tomorrow. Tome Topple was created by Sam (@ Thoughts on Tomes) and is all about big books. This round of the Tome Topple readathon will start at midnight on August 4th and end on the 17th, so it goes on for around two weeks. The whole point of this readathon is to read big books (over 500 pages). You don’t need to finish the books – the point is to tackle some of the daunting big books on your TBR. There are also a few challenges you can take part of. I have taken part in this readathon and think it is such a great idea. Let’s get onto the challenges and TBR.

Challenges:
1. Read more than 1 tome
2. Read a graphic novel (still over 500 pages!)
3. Read a tome that is part of a series
4. Buddy read a tome
5. Read an adult novel

To be honest I’m not going to pressure myself to much with these challenges but as it turns out the books I’ve chosen work quite well with a few of these challenges. The first one I should be able to do as I think I am quite a fast reader. I won’t be getting to a graphic novel – one because I don’t currently own any unread graphic novels and two because I don’t have any on my TBR that is 500+ pages. I doubt I’ll buddy read a tome either. A book that is a part of a series is Servant of the Empire by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts (827 pages), which I will definitely be reading. It is the second book in the Empire trilogy. For the last challenge (read a adult novel) I’ve chosen Germinal by Emile Zola (592 pages). I’ve had this on my TBR for quite some time so I thought this would be a great time to pick it up. The picture below is a tentative TBR for Tome Topple readathon – obviously I won’t get to all of them though.

I’m very much looking forward to tackling these bigger books :). Are you guys taking part in this readathon? What’s the biggest book on your TBR? I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

Tome Topple Readathon TBR

It is time for round 2 of the Tome Topple readathon. You may remember I participated in this readathon back in June and it is now time for another one. This is a readathon all about big books – 500 pages or over. It was created by Sam over on her channel Thoughts on Tomes – you can find out more and check out her TBR here. It runs from November 18th until December 1st so you have two weeks to read as many pages of the big books on your TBR as you can.
I am being a bit ambitious with my TBR but I tend to read quite quickly so I can hopefully get to all these books. First and foremost I want to read as much as I can of Middlemarch by George Eliot. This is my classic pick for this month and although I have already started reading I still have a lot to read. I am hoping this will motivate me to get as many pages read as I can because the size is kind of intimidating and it is also quite dense. Next I have two other books I would like to get to – one of which is fantasy and the other is science fiction. The Wall of Storms by Ken Liu (880 pages) and The Abyss Beyond Dreams by Peter F. Hamilton (around 600 pages).
The Challenges:
1. Read more than one tome (500+ pages)
2. Take a graphic novel break
3. Read a tome that is part of a series
4. Read over 500 pages in one week
5. Read an adult novel
I should be able to complete all these challenges, although I don’t have any graphic novels at the moment so I can’t do that challenge. If I managed to finish The Wall of Storms and An Abyss Beyond Dreams, then I do have some other books I can read – Blood Song by Anthony Ryan, Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor and The Mirror Empire by Kameron Hurley. That is probably being abit too ambitious though :). Wish me luck.
See you next time

Tome Topple Readathon TBR

This is a readathon all about big books – 500 pages or over. It was created by Sam over on her channel Thoughts on Tomes – you can find out more and check out her TBR here. It runs from June 5th until June 19th so you have two weeks to read as many pages of the big books on your TBR as you can.
I am being a bit ambitious with my TBR but I tend to read quite quickly so I can hopefully get to all these books. First and foremost I want to read as much as I can of The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. This is my classic pick of the month of June and at over 1,000 pages it is perfect for this readathon. I am hoping it will motivate me to get as many pages read as I can because the size is kind of intimidating. Next I have two other books I would like to get to – one fantasy and one science fiction. The Way of Kings: Part 2 by Brandon Sanderson and Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey. I should be able to finish these two books as they are both around 500 pages long and I’ve been finishing books of that length in less than a week, but you never know – I may get distracted.

The Challenges:
1. Read more than one tome (500+ pages)
2. Take a graphic novel break (doesn’t need to be over 500 pages!)
3. Read a tome that is part of a series
4. Read over 500 pages in one week
5. Read an adult novel
I should be able to complete all these challenges, although I don’t have any graphic novels at the moment so I can’t do that challenge. If I managed to finish The Way of Kings Part 2 and Leviathan Wakes then I have some other books lined up – The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu or First Rider’s Call by Kristen Britain are two big books that I really want to read soon. That is probably being abit too ambitious though :). Wish me luck.

See you next time
